Searching the
Internet for information about black women's wigs can be daunting
and endless. Especially when it comes to information about the
hair that is used to make natural looking black women's wigs.
As a rule all black women have natural black hair. Some black
women have kinky black hair while others have nappy black hair
styles. Finding a quality wig for a black women that has black
kinky or nappy hair texture that will stay natural looking very
long can be very difficult...if not impossible. The reason why
is fundamentally based upon what the general public can afford.
Quality Lace
Front Wigs, like the ones Beyonce Knowles and Tyra Banks wear
can easily cost from $5,000.00 or more. Inexpensive wigs that
most black women with lower income can afford cost from $300.00
to $700.00. Naturally, expensive wigs cost a lot more because
they are made with quality hair of which when properly maintained
will stay natural looking for a year or longer.
Inexpensive wigs
are nearly all made of Asian Remy Hair of which is customarily
processed to remove the cuticle. One of Mother Nature's characteristics
with dark colored hair is that dark brown to black hair has heavier
cuticle compared to lighter hair colors, and thus, it is only
natural for darker hair colors to tangle more than lighter colored
hair. To eliminate dark hair from tangling hair processor's as
a matter of course remove most of the cuticle before making it
available to vendor's and wig manufacturer's.
The results from
removing the cuticle from dark hair does eliminate hair tangling,
however, it also weakens the hair shaft and causes the hair to
become dull and faded looking. To resolve the dull faded appearance
the hair is soaked in a silicon conditioner to return the hair
to it once healthy natural looking appearance.
Now with the
cuticle removed, the processed Asian Remy Hair is ready to be
used for creating a wig.
After wigs have
been manufactured and after someone has purchased one of them,
here is what normally takes place:
STEP ONE
You visit your local Wig Shop where you try on wigs to see how
you look wearing a particular wig that has caught your fancy.
Naturally, fresh, new wigs look pretty good...so you decide to
buy one.
STEP TWO
For the first week or two, your wig continues looking pretty
good, but as instructed you are recommended to wash it every
week or so. This is were things get interesting! Now while showering
(or with the wig removed), you proceed with shampooing your wig.
After washing it, you then dry the hair and begin attempting
to comb out the hair, but surprisingly...the hair seems to be
uncontrollable. It's all tangled and every time you comb it...the
hair easily sheds from the wig...and the hair is dull and dead
looking! What the hell did I do to my wig?
Well, you didn't
do anything purposely to your wig that made this happen, here
is exactly what happened.
The process used to remove the cuticle from the hair did exactly
what was intended, but by removing the cuticle is what makes
human hair weaker and dull looking. Using a good conditioner
will help to keep the hair looking natural, however, nothing
will make the hair strong again and eliminate breakage and shedding.
STEP THREE
Well, that is the end of the story regarding manufactured wigs
of which are made with over processed Asian Remy Hair. But that's
not your final option...should you still desire wearing a natural
looking wig.
Below is your
alternative to poor quality wigs...you can easily learn how to
make and maintain them yourself using quality hair. With quality
hair you can make a natural wig that will look natural and stay
natural looking a lot longer than those cheap poor quality Chinese
wigs.
To create a Lace
Wig the hardest thing you must learn is how to ventilate hair.
Ventilating hair is simply learning how to tie hair to Monofilament
Material. Learning how to ventilate hair is easy...you simply
watch our MHRW Wig Making Training Video and practice ventilating
in the privacy of your own home. After learning how to ventilate,
you simply watch your favorite movies or programs on TV...while
you work at creating your wig.
The Lace Front
Wigs I now make are much better than the retail Wigs I use to
purchased. What make them better is the invisible front hairline
that MHRW teaches to how to do so it becomes invisible. The front
hairline is so undetectable you can't tell you're wearing a Wig.
The secrete to
creating the invisible lace front appearance on a Lace Front
Wig is also easily done...using ourEasyTAB "Undercoating"
Compound. Simply brush on the EasyTAB (liquid plastic) along
the underside edge of the front lace area and let it dry. It
seals the hair to the foundation and protects the hair from shedding
and becoming damaged when cleaning away tape or adhesive. When
dry (front the hair side of the Wig) it looks like the hair along
the front of your Lace Front Wig is growing from your own scalp.
If you want baby
hairs along the front hairline of your wig, simply tie some hair
along the front area of your wig in a light density to achieve
your desired look.
