There are basically
three popular types of Wig Caps used at wig factory's when making
Women's Lace Front Wigs. They are French Lace Wig Caps, Polyurethane
Wig Caps, and Monofilament Lace Wig Caps.
French Lace
Wig Caps
The most popular and commonly used wig caps used for making Lace
Front Wigs is French Lace Material. French Lace Material is composed
of many small holes very similar to "window screen."
When wigs are
manufactured, using the strand-by-strand method of tying hair
(ventilating) to French Lace Material, each hair is tied separately
to one of the holes throughout the entire wig cap to create the
finished Lace Front Wig.
The problem that
eventually occurs from securing a wig using tape to secure a
wig, is that hair is continually pulled out of the bonding area
when the tape is removed.
The problem that
eventually occurs from securing a wig using adhesive is used
to secure a wig, is the adhesive penetrates through the lace
material holes and quickly destroys the front hairline on the
wig.
Another problem
with French Lace Material is that the matrix (small holes) show
through the hair at the front hairline and part areas.
There is really
no way to solve the matrix exposure problem completely, however,
it is possible to camouflage the front hairline and part areas
by adding more hair to these areas to better hide the lace matrix.
To eliminate
the problem of hair being pulled out and to create better bonding
along the front hairline area may easily be accomplished by undercoating
the front hairline of your wig using >> EasyTAB
Compound.
Sealing the hair to the matrix provides a better bonding surface
and it allows the tape to stick much better than just sticking
to the raw hair.
>> EasyTAB
Compound
also eliminates front hairline damage created when cleaning away
adhesive residue from the front hairline area too.
The process below
will explain how to prepare a French Lace Front Wig and Monofilament
Lace Front Wig so the above does not occur.

The above photo
shows how and what most French Lace Wigs look like along the
front hairline when they are glued down.
As you can see
the lace matrix is plainly visible and the netting obviously
does not match the persons skin color.
Wigs made with
Monofilament Lace Material allow you to control the hair
density - so it looks natural; "Like hair growing from skin."
Also, you can
easily dye the Lace Material to match with your own skin tone
using Rit Dye.

Monofilament
Lace Wig Caps
The second
most popular wig caps used for making Lace Front Wigs are Monofilament
Lace Wig Caps. Monofilament Lace Material is similar to "women's
pantyhose material" with very tiny holes, so close together
that it looks like skin when bonded to your own skin. The process
below explains how to prepare a Monofilament Lace Front Wig,
so the above problems do not occur.
The method of
tying hair to Monofilament Material is the same as with French
Lace Material, however, when sealed with urethane and bonded
to your scalp can provide several favorable benefits.
Ventilating
hair to Polyurethane Material is not possible.
When sealed using
our brush-on urethane (EasyTAB Compound) you can expect the follow
benefits:
|
1. |
Hair
is sealed and protected so hair cannot be pulled out where applied. |
|
2. |
Hair
is not damaged when cleaning away wig bonding adhesive. |
|
3. |
Adhesive
cannot penetrate through French Lace Material into hair. |
|
4. |
Hair
can be added to the front hairline area to restore lost hair. |
|
5. |
Wig
will last much longer compared to a wig without an unprotected
front hairline. |
Polyurethane
Wig Caps
The Lace
Front Wigs made using a Polyurethane Wig Cap are very natural
looking at the front hairline area, however, they are not as
as popular as the French Lace and Monofilament Front Lace Wigs.
The reasons for this are as follows:
|
1. |
Polyurethane
material does not allow proper air circulation to occur beneath
the Wig Cap. This can cause or accelerate hair loss. |
|
2. |
Polyurethane
material is very delicate and when damaged cannot be easily repaired. |
|
3. |
Hair
cannot easily be added to the front hairline should that be necessary. |
|
4. |
Scalp
oil can cause the polyurethane material to become stiff and ripply
along the front hairline. |
|
5. |
Polyurethane
Lace Front Wigs are very hot during warm weather. |
