How to Remove Women's Lace Front Wigs and Men's Hairpieces

How do I remove my lace wig without damaging it?

a. Spray wig removal solvent where tape or adhesive has been applied to your wig or hair piece for bonding.

b. All several minutes for the solvent to soften the tape or adhesive

c. Slowly and carefully remove your wig or hair piece to avoid damage.

How do I remove wig bonding tape or glue from a polyurethane women's wig or hair piece base?

Start by slowly peeling the Wig or Hairpiece from your head.

When using an extended wear bonding bonding tape such as: SuperTape, Pro-Flex II, or Opti-Tape 42.

a. First spray or apply adhesive remover, solvent, or alcohol where tape or glue has been applied. Allow several minutes before starting to remove wig or hair piece.

b. Start at either side of front hairline; using your thumb, lift up the edge of your wig or hair piece (gently to avoid chance of damage to wig or hair piece) working towards other side of front hairline.

If you do full perimeter bonding:

c. Continue lifting wig or hair piece from your scalp until wig or hair piece is completely removed.

How do I remove adhesive from my scalp after removal of my wig or hair piece.

Tape or adhesive may easily be cleaned from your scalp (after your wig or hair piece has been removed) using a quality safe adhesive remover, solvent, or alcohol.

Where is the best place to start when removing my wig or hairpiece?

The best place to start is at the front left or right temple

Simply, peel up the edge of your wig or hair piece and remove it like you would a large bandage.

How do I avoid pulling hair out of my wig or hair piece when removing tape or cleaning away glue?

a. First, spray a quality solvent (from hair side) where tape or adhesive has been used for bonding your wig or hair piece for wearing.

b. Wait several minutes and then remove your wig or hair piece carefully to avoid any damage.

How do I remove residue is embedded adhesive residue from my wig or hair piece base?

a. First, spray a quality wig cleaning or wig removal solvent where embedded adhesive residue exists.

b. Wait several minutes to allow wig removal solvent to break down and soften the adhesive residue.

c. Using your kitchen sink 'high pressure water sprayer', spray hot water when embedded adhesive residue exists to force embedded adhesive residue out of wig or hair piece base.

footnote::= Step c. may need to be repeated until a of the embedded adhesive residue has been removed.

What should I do after cleaning the embedded adhesive residue?

a. Simply wash your wig or hair piece before securing it again for wearing

Avoid getting Adhesive Removers, Solvents, or alcohol in your eyes. These products are clearly labeled with strong advice to avoid getting these chemicals in your eyes. Don't risk your precious eyes. You absolutely have to keep these products out of your eyes. If you should happen to get any solvent in your eyes; flush quickly with water.
