The art of wig
making and making hairpieces.
Learning the
art of wig making allows anyone who wishes to make and maintain
their own custom hair replacement system or hairpiece. The purpose
of a hairpiece is to conceal baldness for both men and women,
but especially for men.
To create a
hairpiece, one must comprise a base or use a ready-made lace
hairpiece foundation to make their desired hairpiece.
A hairpiece
is basically just to things, hair tied to lace netting. How
and where hair is ventilated (tied) determines the hairpiece
hair style when completed. For a natural looking front hairline,
otherwise known as an invisible front hairline, undercoating
the perimeter of the hairpiece, after being completed, with
a liquid plastic undercoating compound product called EasyTAB
Compound is used.
The art of making
hairpieces or toupees has been practiced for many years, however,
these hairpieces often lack the natural appearance along the
front hairline and part areas.
Custom made
hairpieces with a natural looking invisible front hairline and
part areas are usually prohibitively expensive and most men
or women cannot afford them. Therefore, because of their high
cost, many men and women today are learning how to make and
maintain their own custom hairpieces.
Creating a hairpiece
is very easy and can be done within several eight hour cessions
when created using the MHRW wig making process. The MHRW wig
making process requires using a ready-made hairpiece foundation
and usually less then one ounce of hair. Naturally, the longer
the hair, the more is necessary to creating the hairpiece.
The MHRW wig
making process is done using the following 3 steps:
Step 1. Designing
the Hairpiece
The ready-made hairpiece foundation is positioned over the bald
area of the head and you draw an outline of the bald area onto
the foundation. If a part is desired, you must draw your desired
part onto the foundation as well.
Step 2. Creating
the Hairpiece
After outlining the foundation so the hairpiece being created
will fit the bald area of the head as desired; next, the outlined
foundation is secured to a head block for ventilating hair within
the outlined area on the foundation.
Ventilating
hair to the foundation must be done in a density and direction
that when completed gives the appearance that the wearer is
not bald and is not wearing a hairpiece.
Controlling
the hair density is done by how many hairs are tied together
each time and how far apart they are spaced.
Controlling
the hair direction is done by tying the hair in a natural direction
so it lays and looks natural when combed and styled.
Step 3. Completing
the Hairpiece
After the hairpiece has been creating, undercoating the perimeter
with a brush on liquid plastic is done to secure the hair to
the foundation and make the front hairline appear as though
the hair is protruding from skin. This is called the invisible
front hairline.
After the undercoating
has dried, the excess foundation material is cut away, as close
as possible to the hairline, to reveal the completed hairpiece.
Naturally, now
the hairpiece is ready to be secured for wearing, however, before
it is satisfactory for the wearer it must be cut and styled
to match the wearer's hair style.
Securing A Hairpiece
for Wearing
Creating a hairpiece will save you a lot of money, however,
knowing how to secure a hairpiece is also very important too.
Each person lives a different lifestyle and therefore must decide
which method is best for their lifestyle requirements.
A hairpiece
can be secured for wearing for just one day or for several weeks
at a time. Extended wear can be from 3 to 5 weeks depending
on each individuals daily activities.
HOW LONG
DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE A HAIRPIECE?
How long it takes to create your Hairpiece will depend upon
the size of the unit being made and how fast you can ventilate
hair.
Those who have
already purchase a MHRW Hairpiece Kit claim they have made their
Hairpiece in as little time as 15 to 60 hours. Naturally, creating
a smaller Hairpiece like a mustache or beard can be done much
faster compared to creating a full size Hairpiece. Those who
have provided testimony over the telephone, say they enjoy making
their own Hairpieces because they are in control and they save
a lot of money too. They also say: that it is very easy to do
and that they are getting faster at ventilating each time they
work at creating their Hairpieces.
The MHRW Wig
Making Training Kits currently include a VHS Training Video
& Manual showing our 3-step Process used for creating a Hairpiece.
